Swim class with an ear infection...would you?

DD has her swimming class tomorrow morning, but she is recovering from a middle ear infection. She has been on antibiotics since Friday, and is way better already. She had her first class last week, but the Dr. said the infection is not swimming or water related. She doesn't go under the water, or really even get her head wet. She had a really great time last week and the class is far from free and its only for 4 weeks, so I would hate to miss one. I would really like to take her, but I want to be cautious...any opinions?

Re: Swim class with an ear infection...would you?

  • I personally would call and ask the pedi. We took swim classes with a friend and their LO and he had an ear infection and they were told not to bring him to swim class. So, better safe than sorry.

  • I agree, I would call pedis office and ask them. My brother had a lot of ear problems as a baby/kid and he wore waxy moldable earplus from the time he was about 10 months until hs.

  • I work for the City here and we offer Swim classes I would reccomend you ask for a refund and take a class later on. this is not something you could foresee happening and I dont think ear infections and water go well together especially middle ear I would be afraid with all the movement in the water so close baby would get nausious and thats no fun. • I wouldn't do it. There's nothing worse then an ear infection ( I had them constantly as a child), and once it goes viral it can take months to go away. It's not worth it. IMO
