night wakings

LO has always been a terrible sleeper, although at one point he was only up 1-2x a night and sleeping 5-8 hours a stretch.  In the last week, he's been waking up crying more & more, and when I go in there to comfort him & don't pick him up, he cries harder- this is a new development.  Last night he was up 6x, nursed three of those times and no matter what I did, he still cried when I left the room.  Is he ever going to sleep longer than 3 hours at a time?  I feel like he's a newborn again.

This is DD right now too. I'm only nursing her 3 times, but she wakes a ton in between. She's not crying though, just awake!! She used to sleep in at least one 5-hr stretch too, but not anymore. She's an every-3-hour girl! BUT, if I nurse her or give her the binky, she'll stay in that sleepy zone and go back to sleep, thankfully.

It does get better, I promise. We went through all of that too. DS has been sleeping relatively well the past two weeks, as in only up 2x at the most, only feeding once.
