  • from first contraction I felt....you don't want to know. It was over 100 hours (prodromal labor sucks!)

From first 'hard' contraction/with bloody show, etc = about 22 hours.  I went to the hospital around 8 pm and had her at 2:40 pm the next day.

That's why I don't feel bad about having an epidural the first time around when all is said and done.

DS was much more 'normal'.  1st contraction I felt was around 3 a.m., didn't get bad until around noon, had him that evening just after 7 pm.

  • Close to 36, but most of it was early labor. I only had about five or six hours of active labor and less than 30 minutes of pushing.

  • From water breaking to birth was just under 12 hours.  Real contractions didn't start until about 2hrs after my water broke, so I consider it more like 10hrs.

  • One hour. Embarrassed

I know, sounds like a dream come true, right? But to be honest, it was really scary, because the nurses kept telling me that I was just getting started, and that it was going to go on for hours, and just get worse, when really I was in the hardest part. I was terrified and thought I was going to die.

When I told them I had to push, they didn't believe me. As a result, they got in there just in time to catch his body (head was already out).

Number two was better, because I was prepared for a super fast delivary.

  • From water breaking to birth = 18 hours / from first contraction to birth I think that was more like 13 hours?

Hard to tell though b/c the beginning "contractions" just felt like menstrual cramps and weren't that organized until several hours after my water broke.

  • Water broke at 530 pm, contractions started an hour later and DS was born at 1149 pm. So around 5.5 hours from water breaking but 4 hours from first contraction. LO #2 was about an hour less but exact same scenario.
  • 16 hours... for both!  Second was easier though.

  • I had my first contraction on Thursday night as we went to bed around 10:00. Though I was a few days past my due date, I had not experienced any contractions before.

Each time I got up to pee I had another contraction. When I woke up Friday I lost my MP and kept having contractions. However, I was totally able to run some errands and go to garage sales that morning. I didn't really have to start focusing until the afternoon.

    J. was born at 10:40 on Friday night. So just about 24 hours after my first contraction.

  • About 15 hours.  Started having contractions a little after 4am.  Got checked at OB's office at 11am - 5cm.  Went to hospital at 11:30am.  Water broke at 2:30pm, DD was born at 7:20pm.

  • From first contraction? About 36. I had my first contraction at 5:00 a.m. on January 6. Contractions were no less than 8 minutes apart and no shorter than 30 seconds. I delivered my DD at 4:00 p.m. on January 7. I would say I was only in hard labor for about 6 hours.

  • 1st contraction to birth: 2 1/2 weeks. I was told I was in early labor (timeable, regular, uncomfortable contractions, complete with bloody show and lost MP) for 2 1/2 weeks. My water breaking to delivery was 17 hours.
  • If you count from the first contraction then 19.5 hours.  But I was able to sleep for the first two hours (I only had two contractions strong enough to wake me during that time), so I count it as 17.5 hours because that was the point where I could no longer sleep.
  • about six hours, 20 minutes of pushing

  • It was 24 hrs. almost to the minute. First contraction was at 4:30am on Tuesday morning and were about 7-10 min. apart. Went to the hospital around 4:00pm with contractions around 2-3 min. apart. My Dr. didn't break my water until I was complete and then it took 2 hrs. to push him out @ 4:34am on Wednesday.

  • Just over 7 hours.  First few contractions weren't too bad, but within the first hour I was lying down having to do deep breathing/relaxation stuff.

DS came on his own, and it was about the same, contrax started around 645p and he was born at 504a.

  • DD1 was 3 hours, 46 minutes exactly...it was a pitocin induction.

    DD2 was 6 1/2 hours or so...completely natural.

  • About 20 hours from the first contraction, but they didn't get intense (I finished my yoga class and then slept through them on and off all night) until my water broke the next morning, then it was 8 hours till delivery with 1 hour of pushing.

  • I consider my labor to be 30 hours. That's from 1st seriously uncomfortable/painful contraction to birth.  I had been cramping for about 15 hours before that, after getting my membranes stripped, but I dont consider it in my length of labor.

Second labor was 8 hours start to finish.

  • My NST at 10am the day I went into labor showed tons of contractions but I didn't feel many of them. By 3pm I needed to focus on breathing & stopped doing other things.

Technically 15+ hours from start to finish, but I only felt like I was laboring for about 9. I labored at home most of the day, went to the hospital at 10pm, had my water broken at 11.30 & went through transition, started pushing at midnight, & LO was born at 12.30am.
