S/o pacifier question

Are packs sterile out of the package or how do you plan to clean it before use and how/where to store until needed?

Re: S/o pacifier question

  • I just wash everything in hot soapy water. The pacifiers that I got my DS(Avent) came with a cover. I just stored some in the nursery and also where I store the bottles in the kitchen.

  • Wow, I hadn't even considered this!

I got some yesterday that came in their own little cases. I think I will probably clean them (and the cases) and then store them back in the cases until we use them.

  • No, they are not sterile.  I boil them before the first use (it usually says how long on the back of the pack...I think 5 minutes, but it's been a while since I've had to do it :p)  I usually store them in a clean tupperware container in the cupboard and dresser in the nursery, plus have a pacifier pod/case for out and about (and a spare).

  • I think most of them say to sterilize before the first use. I have a microwave sterilizer that I plan to throw them in before we start using them. I'm planning to delay the use of them until we get a good latch going on breastfeeding though.

  • So long as your dishwasher has a dry heat setting, it will be fine.
