Seasonal allergies?

Can an almost 16mo have seasonal allergies? DS spent all day outside on Saturday and was a little warm before bed. We chalked it up to an eye tooth coming in and time in the sun and gave him a dose of Tylenol before bed. Saturday night was miserable-up just about every hour. He woke up Sunday morning with a 101.7 fever (mind you, his "resting" temp is around 96/97, so 101 is definitely high for him) but after the Tylenol set in, he was running around like nothing was wrong. He wouldn't nap at all on Sunday despite another dose of Tylenol and plenty of active time. Come Sunday night, he was flushed, runny nose, and runny eyes (though I attributed that to having been up ALL day after a very long night). He got some Motrin and passed out at 7p...for an hour. Then another hour. Then another. He was finally down at 11:30p until 6a w/o a peep but back up to 101 this morning.

His teething fevers have never lasted this long so now I'm wondering if it could be allergies? I got him down for a nap this morning and hopefully he'll take his afternoon nap, too, but I'm wondering how long you let a fever last before calling the pedi? (Like I said, his fevers have never lasted more than one or two doses of Tylenol/Motrin, so we're in new territory now.) Thanks ladies.

Re: Seasonal allergies?

  • As the queen of fevers...My rule of thumb is 3 days over 101 before I call. I also think Cole has allergies as well. He has a clear runny nose and cough but nothing else - but no fevers. The fever he had last week was due to his ear. Good Luck Momma!
