Thoughts on the Graco MyRide65

This is a XP from Nurseries and Baby Gear, but I'm interested in my May Mommas experiences too :)

DH and I are looking into buying the Graco MyRide 65 convertible carseat for our little one.  I plan to use it rear-facing in my 2010 Mazda3, and I wanted to hear some feedback from anyone who has used it, especially someone who's used it in a Mazda3 or a smaller sedan.

I've read a bunch of reviews and looked it up on Consumer Reports, but I'm curious to hear a few more reviews about it, especially in regards to my specific car/type of car.  I tried looking up the compatibility on www.carseatdata.org, but it has nothing for the MR65 in a Mazda3.  TIA, ladies :)

  • We have that seat and our car is a small sedan.  It fits just fine in our car.  I like that it allows you to rear-face your child for a long time.

  • I don't think that it will fit.  We have a four door Mazda 6 sedan.  The britax were WAY TOO BIG.  We ended up going with the Evenflo Symphony.  It fits great.  The passenger seat needs to go up a little bit for it to fit - but honestly, i love how easy it is to get in and out of the car (install with latch system) and how nice my DD fits in it.  I suggest trying that one out too.

FYI - go to BRU, leave them your ID, and you can take out the car seat models to try out in your car.  So glad we did that or else we would have ended up with britax that we would have had to return.

  • I love ours! We have one in each car, and if I need to get another car seat before DD#1 is ready for the next stage, I will buy more of these. They just fit her so well. It just looks safer, and like pp said-you can rear face a lot longer with this seat, and it allows more room for a toddler f/f until the next stage in car seat.

  • I second going to BRU and testing it out.  Personally, it wasn't a good fit in my VW Jetta and we ended up with a Britax Marathon 70.  We tried about 7 different car seats in the car, since our Evenflo Triumph was so big I couldn't see out the back window, creating a HUGE blind spot and making me a hazard. We tried the older Britax, the MyRide, Safety first air, the Sunshine Radian, an Eddie Bauer seat I can't remember the name of.. how a seat fits in your car really determines how safe it truly is.

Overall, it's a great seat.  I loved the 40 RFing weight limit, and was pleased with finding that in the Britax as well, but would have loved to save the money and gotten the MyRide.  If it would have fit well in my car, I would have one.

  • Oh I didn't know that about BRU!  I may have to suggest that to DH...he has some aversion to BRU so we haven't gone to check it out, but I know he'd much rather be able to try it out at the store instead of having to take back a gazillion carseats that were too big.  I've heard so many conflicting reviews about the MyRide's size in smaller cars that checking it out at the store is probably going to be our best bet.  Of course, tonight we went out to dinner and we saw a couple bring their baby into the restaurant in the infant carrier for the infant carseat, and DH thinks he wants to go that route now...sooooo we'll see haha.  Thanks for the info, though :)  Much appreciated!
