Our DS is Calvin Michael, both family names that we love. We really love both Claire and Clara for a girl but are they too matchy with Calvin? I am OK with the alliteration but still not completely sure that they aren't too close. Also, with Claire we would probably use Elizabeth for a middle name, which is a family name but I feel like Clara Elizabeth has a lot of vowels all together making it run together so I am not sure that I would put them together. They're are not any other female family names we love so if we use Clara she'll also get a unique middle name. Is it OK to give one kid 2 family names and the other none?
I have a long list of boy names with no other C's involved and a good family name for a middle name so I think I am OK there. Just struggling with girls names... which probably means I am having another boy and I am stressing over nothing!
TIA!
Re: Sibset: Calvin and C....
I think Clara Elizabeth is lovely. I kind of see your point regarding vowels, but it's not a dealbreaker for me. I also am not a fan of matchy sibsets but Calvin and Clara or Claire are okay sounding to me - but just be aware that you'll likely stumble over their names when you're calling for them.
I don't think there's any obligation to give family names "equally." Pick the names you like. My first name is just a name my parents liked, and that makes it special enough for me.
Love Claire Elizabeth
do not like Clara
Me too
I agree.
