L&D and on moderate bedrest (kind of long)

Hey girls,

Just thought I would let you all know that I spent Wednesday night into Thursday morning in labor and delivery. When I got home on Wednesday, I was sitting down watching tv. I was going to getup and make supper about 5:30 pm when all of a sudden I had moderate to severe cramping in my tummy and it wasn't going away. So I called the Family Birth Center, at Mayo, and they told me to go to my local hospital.

Little back ground, I am considered high risk and am seeing a dr at the Mayo Clinic that is 1 1/2 hours away from my house.

I get there and they hook me up to the baby monitor and the one to track the contractions. My contractions start to get more frequent and before I knew it I was having one on top of another. The on call dr was keeping in contact with my dr at Mayo. they decided to hook me up to an IV to give me more fluids, I was already drinking tons, and decided to give me a shot to try to stop or slow down the contractions. They did slow down but picked up again. By this time it was about 12:00 am. They also gave me some zofran to help with the nausea that was having. They decided to give me another dose to stop the contractions and some morphine to help me go to sleep. By the time I fell asleep it was 1:30 am.

Also they check my cervix 3 times. They first time they check my cervix was still closed, no dialation and long. By the second and third time, it was still closed but had shortened.

I was sent home Thursday morning about 11:00 am and was told to just relax and sleep for the next couple days. I still have contractions but they are about 1 an hour if that.

If you are haveing tummy pain, please be seen by a dr...You never know what you are having!
