I'm cross posting this here because more of you are probably doing solids and I'd like your thoughts too.
So I did avocado last Sun and Mon. DD ate it and seemed interested in eating, but also seemed to hate the avocado. I mentioned to a mom group I started with this (yes I know it is a fruit, but tastes like a veggie!) so she didn't get used to sweets and then not want veggies. The RN/LC that run it as well as a few other moms made a good point. If you BF, BM is super sweet. Mine basically tastes like sugar water. So it seems to be a moot point starting with a veggie to avoid them hating them, when all she eats now is sweet. Just a different perspective, since it kind of changed my mind and I will be doing fruits sooner than I thought.
Re: RE: starting with veggies instead of fruit to not cause LO to be picky
We just mix it up with our DS. He has fruits he prefers (bananas make him go MMM, MMM the whole time he eats, lol) and he goes monkey-poo for carrots, but now that we know he's not allergic to any of the foods, we alternate between things he prefers and things he doesn't necessarily care for (green beans and those nasty beef & gravy 1st purees). He just plain hates oatmeal/rice so we have to mix it with something or he won't eat it at all (I guess it's too plain).
Have fun and good luck!
"Though many pediatricians will recommend starting vegetables before fruits, there is no evidence that your baby will develop a dislike for vegetables if fruit is given first. Babies are born with a preference for sweets, and the order of introducing foods does not change this. " AAP
I will put fruit (banana, apple, canteloupe) and broccoli on DD's tray and without fail she prefers broccoli. ETA: I introduced banana first.

I didn't give my oldest son any fruit until he was 8 months old, just gave him veggies I made myself. Today he won't even look at vegetable.
With my youngest (7months) I've given him fruit and chicken but no veggies. We'll see how it turns out.
