fill me in on why crib sheets are a PITA

They're easy to change.  Maybe it's my long monkey arms?  Wink  Takes me less than a minute per crib.  I do it every Saturday.

Why do so many people hate it?  I am genuinely curious.  I haven't ever had to change a crib sheet in the middle of the night, so maybe that's why I don't "get it"?

Fill me in!

If you'd like, in exchange, I can fill you in on why I hate cleaning toddler high chairs.  Ick!

Re: fill me in on why crib sheets are a PITA

  • I HATE IT.

First of all, if I recall Kim you are tall - that might be why it's easy for you!

I am 5'5 and I don't have long arms.  The crib digs under my rib cage when I bend down to change the sheets.  The matress is super heavy to lift up, and I hate going around all the crib slats to pull the sheet down so it's perfect all the way around.  Plus we have bumpers- so that makes it a bigger PITA.

I would much rather clean the high chairs.

  • For me it's the bumper...I hate that the bumper gets in the way of pulling the mattress up.  When the bumper is off, it's so much easier for me.

I'm definitely with you on the food mess on the floor.  Luckily we have tile floor but I hate a messy/sticky floor.   I end up using the clorox wipes on the floor for a fast clean up

  • My mattresses are so tight up against the crib rails that, in order to get the sheet on, I basically have to pull the whole mattress out. Once I put the sheet on I have to shove the mattress back in, but I have breathable bumpers and they always get all bunched up. So then I have to fuss with those. And also the bumpers have bunched the sheet up, so I have to reach through the rails to pull it back down around the mattress.

    x2.

It's not my least fave chore. But it's definitely a PITA.

  • 2 words... BUMPER PADS!!  Ugh, I can't take the sheets off until I untie the millions of ties, and pull of the monstrous snake of a bumper pad.  Putting the sheets back on is a PITA b/c the sheets never wanna stretch enough and I'm usually making lots of painful grunting noises until it's all done.  Then you gotta tie all those bloody ties back on!

I'm genuinely interested in high chairs at the moment.....  I have no clue which ones to buy, there are WAY too many to choose from.  I want it to be one they can grow into!  Starting solids in 2 weeeeeeeeks!

  • Yeah, I am a tall mofo with long a$$ arms.  Stick out tongue  I pick the mattress up and set it on the top rim of the cribs (since they are side by side), whip the old sheet off and put the new one on, and then plop the mattress back down so as not to move the skirt.

It was a little more annoying when we had Breathable Bumpers on.  I am glad those are gone.

This is me exactly.  Tall, lanky, and willing to toss those mattresses around!  (I'm also a little glad someone else does it once a week.  I was afraid everyone was doing it once a day or something, and that's why they hated it so much.)

  • Clouds and Stars Zipper Sheets.

I swear by these sheets!!!  They are a lifesaver and SO easy.  They just zip all the way around.  There is not pulling up the mattress, etc.  You will never go back to regular sheets.  Luckily, I never started with them and will never thanks to a good friend.
