Sorry it took a bit to get back to you.
Anyway, I was curious to see if the majority of people chose the most common spelling with every name or if it was dependent on the name itself. It seems for the majority you all chose the most common spelling. Although for some, it was dependent on name.
I was actually surprised by how many people did like the spelling of Zoey over Zoe.
I also found it funny how some people needed to change Isabel to Isabelle, even though Isabel is a correctly spelled variation of this name.
Re: F/U to my spelling experiment
ewww @ zoey.
interesting, though.
Isabelle and Isabel are equally correct, as are Annabel and Annabelle. It's a matter of personal preference, just like Katherine vs. Catherine.
Not so with Zoey, which isn't an actual, accepted spelling. It's an apples and oranges comparison.
This.
Also, I prefer the Spanish spelling - "Isobel"
I'm opposite (I didn't participate in the spelling experiment, so I want to voice my opinion here!
).
I prefer Zoey because with Zoe it doesn't look like it has the "ee" sounding part at the end. I think of Zoe like Toe or Joe (you don't say Toe-E or Joe-E). Meh, just what I think
Yeah, I like Zoey better. I also think that Zoe looks like Zoh, while adding the y pretty much assures correct pronunciation. Or there's always Zooey, as in Deschanel. I named my baby girl kitty Zoey
This is the "alternate" spelling I think of because of J.D. Salinger's book, "Franny & Zooey".
