I'm thinking about a family vacation there next month. Will it still be too cold to do much on the beach in early May? Is there other fun stuff to do there?
We were there in March a couple years ago and it was COLD. Lots of things were still closed for the winter. My brother and sister in law who live down their said that middle May tends to be when everything starts to re-open and Memorial Day weekend is basically the summer kick off for everything.
We go to OBX every summer. It will be warm in May, but PP is right that the water will probably be cool. I'm not sure how much stuff will be open yet. The beach houses are really nice. There are lighthouses you can visit and lots of shopping. We took a kayak tour one year and that was really cool.
I've been there so often it's like a second home to me. I seriously love it there and I felt the first baby kicks of my pregnancy there last summer.
The two men in my life. Oh, and I have a husband too...
We go every summer and were actually married there on the beach. So obviously we love it! PM me if you have any questions or suggestions on which towns to stay in.

Thanks, this is good to know! I just started thinking about it so I may PM you once I get into it more .
