Naked newborn butt photos... '80 thing??

This past weekend we had our baby shower. Mom and MIL brought photos of DH and I when we were newborns. This must have been popular in the '80 to take photos of newborns butts.... because we both had one and people started talking about them and such. Will you be taking a photo of your newborn's butt to share with everyone once they have their baby shower....

 

Personally I don't think I will. It was sort of embarrassing to me...

We'll be doing newborn pics, but I don't know if we'll purposefully go for the butt.  I'll let the photographer decide what to take.

We will have newborn photos done too. Everyone at the shower was talking about if we would take a naked butt photo of our LO... and I guess it never crossed my mind. People where telling me it was popular to do in the '80s... I must come from a strange area...

Yes, but only as a personal memento and not for display or to show people. I took a pic of DS naked in his crib on his belly with his cute little baby butt showing and he was slightly turning around and looking at the camera and had a huge gummy smile on his adorable face. He was about 5 1/2 months old. It's still one of my favorite pictures. Love it.

I have one of my butt too...never thought abut it being an 80's thing, but I haven't seen anyone do it in a long time. I doubt I will do it, I don't see the point.

This is probably just me but I don't like nude pictures of children (or anyone in general really).  I just think I'd never post them on fb and wouldn't be comfortable showing them to anyone so why do them.

It probably doesn't help that my coworker is married to one of the child porn cops in our town, it's scary to see people you never thought would get caught doing that kind of stuff.  I cringe when I see pics of people's kids in the tub on fb, even if you can't see much.  Ya just never know who is looking at that with other stuff on their mind.  Euuuuu, so sad!

I know every one of us kids in my family has at least a few nudy pics from the back, even until we were about 3 (wearing cowboy boots, etc.)  I think they are super adorable for our family to look back on.  However, I agree though, even a sick family member can have horrid thoughts that I would never want hovering over my children.  I never thought about this too much until now, I guess this is something my husband and I need to discuss.  We aren't even letting family members change diapers, I'm pretty sure I know the outcome of this one...

Yeah unfortunatly I had a good reality check a few years back when I learned my friends stepdad sexually abused 4 of the 5 children in her family for over 10 years....I would never have guessed. 

Sorry to be debbie downer about it.  I know a ton of people take those pics, I'm sure there are some of me somewhere it's just not for me, DH and our LO.

unfortunately, everything on the internet is public. Even if it's on your password protected "private" facebook. It's really sad, but we'll probably choose to stay away from graphic naked pictures of our baby girl for her protection.

This exactly.  I think if you hire the right professional photographer (and I'm not talking about a mall portrait session), they can be so artsy and adorable.  I am looking forward to framing a black and white pic of her little tootsies too!
