How did I not know this??

The nickname my mom gave me as a baby was Twink.  She's called me twink my whole life.  I thought it was cute.

My mom calls Em Twinkette now.  DH told me he didn't like it.  I asked why and he tells me it's b/c Twink is a term for a gay man's lover or something?? 

Now I have no problem with homosexuality but when you tie it to a childhood nickname??  Yea, that kinda makes me go Tongue Tied  Way to ruin my sweet images DH.

    I'd google it but I'm at work.  My friend works in IT and confirmed it.  I thought that was odd but then he pointed out that he sees all of the flagged sites people look at which makes me feel skeevy. 

    Plus my screen name...it's both of our nicknames but now it just sounds funny to me.

    I think I remember my grandma saying something like that was a 'gay' synonym, but I don't think it has that association for younger generations.

    All the gay men I know in DFW area use the term "chick" for young gay hot men. Then you get the "chicken hawks" or sugar daddies.

    Haha, I was going to say, in my world a twink is a video game reference. It's hard to explain, but basically it's a really "low" level character that kicks butt because you used your other "high" level character's money to make it awesome.

     

    Ok no matter how many ways I type that, it still sounds nerdy >_>
