Babies: 6 - 9 Months

How do BabyGap clothes fit your LO?

I don't buy Baby Gap clothing very often, mainly because I find it over priced, but DD is getting her pictures taken in the next couple of weeks and there is a really cute outfit I'd like to get her.  She's 26 inches, and 16 pounds.  How do pants and shirts from Gap fit your LO, big, small, or just right?   I want these clothes to fit her now, but don't want her to be swimming in them for her pictures.  I'm just not sure if I should go  3-6 or 6-12 in Gap.  Ugh, I hate this in-between stage.

  • I have a boy, but find their clothes to be true to size. He is in 6-12 now, and they still fit him well. His pants are starting to look a little short to me, but I feel like 12-18 will be huge on him.

  • I got him 6-12 when he was 6 months and I *think* 17lbs.  They looked good on him and still fit him.  If they are for pictures and you don't think she will wear them that often 6-12 may be a tad big right now.
  • I don't know about the clothes, but the socks are amazing and the only ones that stay on DS's feet!

  • I find their clothes to be pretty true to size.  I have some onesies that are 6-12 months that fit great, a little room to grow right now.

  • Our little guy wears a lot of Baby Gap and I've found their sizing to fairly TTS, with some random sizes thrown in there.  He's on the smaller size but has a long torso; here's the sizes he's currently in:

    jeans/pants - 3-6 months

    shirts/onesies - 6-12 months

rompers - kind of random, some of the footed ones have small feet and others are normal.  He's still in 3-6 month in most of these.

    shoes - 0-3 months

    Ditto the socks. Love them.

C is 17lbs and about 24 inches, he is still in 3-6 months.  The 6-12 pants are little too big in the waist and the 6-12 shirts a little long in the arms.

  • I've had a couple strange fittings on DD with long sleeved shirts from Baby GAP.  The sleeves and torso area are snug, yet the neckline is loose.  It's a weird fit and DD isn't a large child.

  • My DS has the exact measurments as you DD. Gap clothes fit him great. I prefer the 6-9/6-12 month size on him right now. FWIW - he is long and lean.

  • My DD is the exact same size as yours- at her 6 mo appt. 2 weeks ago she was exactly 16lbs and 26.5 inches.  She wears a lot of Baby Gap and her 3-6 mo clothes still fit her really well so I haven't moved her into 6-12 yet.

  • Thanks everyone!  I think we are going to go with 3-6 pants and 6-12 for shirt because she also has a long torso (her Dad is 6'2'', so I think she's gonna be on the taller side).  I have also heard good things about their socks...I will have to get some of those too!
  • My DD is 26.5 inches long and 16lbs and is wearing a Baby Gap outfit today.  It is a shirt and pair of jeans in 3-6.  The pants are perfect in the waist but the shirt is getting a little short. Their sizes run a little big in my opinion.  The only brand that truly fits her according to the label is Carters.

  • I would say go with the 6-12 and wash the outfit before she wears it. This is what we did for H's photos and it seemed to be just fine. He is about the same size. I agree 100% about their jeans and socks. They are a little spendy but totally worth it.
