XP: Tide vs. Rockin Green

I've been using Rockin Green on my cloth diapers, but I've seen comments here and there about using original powder Tide.  Last night I saw that Jillians Drawers recommends Tide, as well.  I am totally afraid of screwing up my cloth diapers, and I'm usually a  fan of "if it ain't broke...", but Tide is sooooo much cheaper than Rockin Green.  Has anyone ever had any issues with Tide and cloth dipaers?  Is it reaaally ok?  TIA for this probably stupid question! Edit: I did post this on the CD board, but didn't get an responses :-(

  • I have no advice, but I am thinking of using Tide too.  So I am interested in the responses!

  • I am too afraid to use anything other then a CD brand soap.

If you check out this site it tells you why some detergents are good and why some are bad.

  • Original Tide is perectly fine.  Lots of mamas here use it.  Just make sure it's the original powder.  If you're wanting to save money, you could also make your own.  I think J+MS makes her own, if I'm remembering right.  Maybe she could give out her recipe.

I think Jkat said she made her own too.

  • We've used regular powdered Tide and nothing else since the beginning and have never had a single problem of any kind.  My SIL has used it with her kids so 3 years of cloth diapering and has also never had issues of any kind (no stink, no repelling, no skin issues, etc).  Go for it, it works great for us!

  • Oh it should be the powder tide and not liquid? Good to know because I was going to get liquid.  Do they make powder for HE machines?

  • Also, Charlie's soap is a very cheap CD friendly detergent. I get it for $11 on amazon and it's good for 80 loads. We love it on our clothes too.

I am not impressed with Rockin' Green, especially for the price.
