Not happy with my Dr.!!

Today I went to take my sugar test and when I got there I was informed that she has changed it from just taking the normal one hour test and going ahead and taking the 3hour test!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No one called me to tell me this so I wasn't able to even take it because I had eaten. Sp I have to fast for 8hrs which normally wouldn't be a big deal because you just go to bed, get up and take the test. Well for me I HAVE to work so I can't do that. I go to work before 6am and work till 2pm usually. So I have to work all day without eating anything and thats not gonna be easy. I work at a Coffee Shop and I am on my feet the whole time. I really need food for some energy. I am just feeling a little stressed about this. I feel sorry for whoever has to work with me that day. Okay thats my vent. Thanks for listening!!

That's ridiculous.  I would definitely complain the next time you see the doctor.  Is there anyway you can switch shifts with someone so you can do the 3 hour first thing??  I can't imagine it is good for you (or the customers!) to work without eating all day.

I wish I could switch with someone but my mother in law watches my daughter and she goes to work as soon as I get home from work. Its crazy!!!! I guess I will just eat a TON of food before I go to bed. ha ha

Am I the only one wondering why they would automatically have you take the 3 hour?  I would be upset about that too.  Not just the fact they didn't tell me of the switch before hand.

Can you take it on a Saturday instead of a work day? That's what I'm doing so that my DH can watch DD while I go.

I am gonna call and see if they are open on Sat cause that would be great!!! I was told she changed it cause she thinks going ahead and doing the 3 hour one would be less of a stress for everyone. That way if it comes back bad you know and don't have to come back and take anymore test.

Maybe I'm sensitive, but I think I'd be a little offended--like she's just assuming I'm going to have it judging by what she thinks of me.  Does she do this for everyone?  IDK.  Again.  Maybe I'm just sensitive.

I just switched doctors myself. I seemed to not be informed of a lot of things on his agenda. I so happen to go in for a non-stress test and saw another doctor. She asked me who I normally doctored with because she saw this was the 3 non responsive test I had, and there was no intervention being done! It was at this point I also found out that my doctor is on vacation from mid May to mid June, and didn't bother to tell me he wouldn't even be around for my delivery. I now switched to the lady doc. I say if you aren't happy with your doctor, then switch!! This is the person who is going to bringing a very special person into your life, and you want the experience to be special as well.
