DH and I were just talking and he suggested:
Middle name would either be Mae or Grace. DH's name is Jason, my fathers name is Lynn. Last name is similar to Strickland.
Jacey
Jaelynn (pronounced Jay Lynn)
Lynley
Emelyn (pronounced Emma Lynn)
I'm asking your opinion, because all of these sound & look made up to me. I don't like that about them... but I will say I don't hate them.

I agree, they do sound made up.
Oh well... So how would you pronounce Emmeline?
I see exactly what you mean! I like some of them when I say them, but not written. They do look very made up!
I too was going to suggest Jocelyn (although im partial since that is my DD's name).
I also like Emmeline!
Jacey -sounds like a nn
Jaelynn (pronounced Jay Lynn)-don't like the look of the "ae" together. But Jaylynn is too many "y's"
Lynley-definitely do not like at all
Emelyn (pronounced Emma Lynn)-Prefer Emmeline
I hate them. They are made-up and ugly.
Is there a reason you are naming a girl after her father or grandfather? (Nothing wrong with this, just curious as to why you don't look at your own mother's and grandmother's names instead).
Maybe try names that start with J or L to honor them. Or use the feminine version of the names like Lynnette, Jaqueline, Jillian, Jocelyn, Josephene, Juliana, Laurel, Lillian.
That's because almost all of them are.
I'd keep looking. Smoosh names are silly. I guess I don't understand why you have these arbitrary middle names picked out when you could just as easily use Lynn or Jae. Then you could honor relatives without making up stupid first names.
The only name I remotely like is Emelyn, which is better spelled Emmeline (and, YES, can be pronounced the exact same way).
Baby Boy born sleeping at 20 weeks.
I don't like any of them. They all look made-up and misspelled.
This exactly!

I just think its funny that ppl say names are "made up" because at one point every name was "made up". They have to come from somewhere..right? And, to say its a "2010-2012" name is also contradicting because in case some of you didnt realize..its 2011!
I have to say i know a little girl named Jacey and i think its a nice name. I like Jaelyn, except i would spell it Jaylen.
You should choose a name that you love and means something to you. Don't worry about what other people think because its NOT their kid.
I hate this ignorant argument. Words and names have etymology - history. Onomastics is the study of names. When you encounter an object that is new to you you generally ask what it is called. You don't just make up a word for it and then announce to everyone that THAT is what such an object is called because what are NAMES anyway but arbitrary groupings of letters that someone a long time ago decided were correct.
It goes beyond the name itself. Most names have indicators in the groupings of letters that tell you much more than whether the person is male or female. They tell a story of language, culture, society and history. So yes, a name like Jaelyn (*gag*) or the various -ayden names will have a history of early 21st century experimentation. There is a REASON certain letters were grouped together to make different names and why others were not.
Giving your child a smush, made-up name is the equivalent of announcing to the world that you are uneducated and don't care who knows it.
Thanks M.J.
I always feel like such a geek when this argument comes up because I know that people who think that names don't mean anything are never going to really understand it and will rarely see the benefit of learning about these things. *sad face*
I like your mn choices, but the first names are really awful. Sorry. How about:
Emma Grace
Emeline Grace
Amelia Grace
Emily Grace
Jacinda Mae
Julia Mae
Georgia Mae
Jillian Mae
LOL Exactly this.
