I took C to the park for a picnic today and as we were finishing up he leaned too far off the bench and fell backwards and smacked his back and head directly on the concrete. Then after 20 minutes of him not calming down I called the ped. A nurse called me right back and told me to bring him in. He SCREAMED for 90 minutes on the way to the office and for another 40 minutes once we were there. I started to panic b.c they were getting worried that he wasn't calming down. I still have tears in my eyes thinking about it. DH is in TX on business. I was a mess. I am better now that I know he is ok but I now have a check list and was told not to let him nap today. He seems to be fine now but has a HUGE knot on the back of his head and his back is all scraped up. I was sitting RIGHT there and just couldn't grab him in time. I think I will hear that thud and screaming in my sleep tonight. DH doesn't even know all of this went on b/c I didn't want him to freak out knowing there is nothing he can do and C is ok, thankfully. I think we'll be picnicing on blankets in the grass from now on.

Oh, you poor thing, and poor C. I just know I would have freaked out, so glad he's okay, and I hope his knot heals quickly. (Hugs)
I'm so sorry! That sounds so awful!
Bumps are a good thing! Swelling out means that the scalp is allowing for the swelling and it's not being held inside. Or something like that. I just know that the doc says swelling isn't a bad thing!
