What's a good present for a 4 year old?

who isn't really into anything.

I'm going to a coworkers sons birthday party and I've asked her if he really likes anything and she said no. I'm so lost at what to get. 

Any ideas? I'd like to keep the pricing around 30$ but I'm not stuck on that price.

    Books, legos,playdough, bubbles, bubble gun, fun outdoor water toy, tinker toys... Have fun shopping! Nerf anything!

    How about a game?  My three and a half year old loves playing games.  Barnes and Noble has some unique preschool games in their toy section.  Books are also a good gift too.

    One of my nephews is going to be 4 next month and I made him a super hero cape for Christmas and he loves it.

    DS is 3 but he would love anything superhero related or bubbles. In the $30 range you can get some sort of bubble machine and extra pack of bubbles.
