Natural Birth

I love my OB!

Ok, so I went over my birth plan with my OB yesterday and, as it turns out, all of my paranoid delusions were exactly that! All of the OB's at the office I go to are all very much pro-natural birth! My OB basically told me that a woman's body is designed to bring babies into the world, and they are just there to help make sure that natural process runs as smoothly as possible and to make sure that I am kept as comfortable as possible by whichever means I want during the process.

They will only do an episiotomy if it looks like I'm going to tear badly, which is perfectly fine with me. I can push when I want, and in whatever position I want. I do not have to have an IV in if I don't want it, but I will need to have a Hep-lock in the back of my hand just in case they need quick access, again, this is fine. They will only offer drugs if I request them. The baby will be staying in the room for all of his procedures, and they always have a lactation consultant on hand if I'm having difficulty breastfeeding. And, the best part, they don't start to consider an induction until I hit 42 weeks and only then if I'm not showing any signs of starting labor yet. And they'll be making sure I'm doing all I can to naturally induce labor myself at home before then. And, of course, they treat a c-section as a dire last resort. I did forget to ask about eating during labor, but I'll bring it up at the next appt. I'm just so happy that I won't have to fight to make my wishes come across! I feel so lucky to have found such good OB's!
