Do you really need a full sized high chair?

I actually bought a FP Rainforest high chair on clearance at Target for $50.  I read an article saying that having a full sized high chair is really unneeded, and a portable high chair strapped to a regular dining room chair is just as good.

Thoughts?

  • We put DD in one of the FP booster seats from the beginning and she has been fine.  I didn't start using it until she could hold herself up well.  It was around $20 at BRU.  We don't have the extra space in our dining area and this things is great.  I scoot the chair under the table and you can barely see it.  It also folds up so you can travel with it.

  • It depends on your lifestyle.

We like to invite friends over for dinner, and Adam likes to be at the tabl;e with us, so a spacesave high chair wouldn't have been practical for us because we wouldn't had had room for guests. We have room in the kitchen for our high chair. I'm happy with it.

  • I plan on getting a portable one for $30 or so.  Honestly, I don't have much kitchen space and don't want a full sized one taking up a lot of space.

I think full sized are unnecessary.

  • Not sure, but I love love love your siggy pic and want to steal your idea for Halloween cards for the fam! Sorry I am no help!

Hehehe... *psst* the hat and the shirt are from the Target $1 section! ;)

  • We're obviously not using it yet, but we've got the FP space saver high chair that will strap onto one of our kitchen/dining room chairs. I really didn't think a full sized one was necessary.
  • Hmm....well, I'll probably take the full sized FP back then.  I realize $50 was an awesome deal for the chair, but I also realized that it's a pretty big set up for our kitchen (even though we have awhile to go before we use it).
  • we don't have a dining room table (small apt, we have a bar in the kitchen and use barstools) so a full size highchair was necessary for us, considering we wouldn't have had a chair to strap a portable one to.
