Babies: 3 - 6 Months

5:30 to 6:30am feeding....

Alex is doing much better with sleeping again, he goes down by 7:30 still gets up at 1:30 or so to eat, and that's fine enough for now, I guess.

My real "issue" is that he gets up at 5:30am almost every morning, eats, then goes back to bed until 7am when I have to wake him up to get ready. Is there any way you can suggest to extend that feeding so he gets up at 6:30am instead, so then he is just up for the day? I know people say that if he gets up at a certain time it's habit not need.

I have been too lazy to try Ferbering or letting him resettle to see if he goes back to sleep...

Re: 5:30 to 6:30am feeding....

  • Nothing I do makes any difference on when he wakes up for a feeding.  Yesterday he ate more than normal during the day and wanted to eat at 3:30am this morning.  A couple nights ago he didn't want to eat much before bed and slept from 7:30pm to 6:30am.  As soon as I think we're in a pattern, he changes it up on me.

  • You could try to decrease the amount that he gets at his 5:30 feeding perhaps?  But like pp said, nothing I've tried made a difference when we went through this.
  • Well, at least I'm not the only one! Wink

I thought the same thing, Cara, I nurse at night so it's difficult to cut him short - I have enough trouble getting him to unlatch even if he had fallen asleep still on me lately.  LOL.
