I avoided lunch meat and hot dogs since the day I found out I was pregnant because of listeria. My doctor told me that if I ate a hoagie every once in awhile that I would be fine, just use my judgement in my choice of deli and everything in moderation. Maybe I am an idiot, but I had no idea that you should be cautious of soft serve ice cream also! I love caramel sundaes from McDonald's, milkshakes from Chik Fil A and have not held back in eating them. Now that I know this....I don't know how I am going to make it through this pregnancy without soft serve!!!

I ate McFlurries, milkshakes and Blizzards the entire end of pregnancy with DD...she's perfectly fine. Don't worry about it. Smile

to be honest, i've been eating sandwiches almost everyday for the last two weeks...

I've had a a Frosty and a couple Friendzys (like a blizzard but from Friendly's). I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Why shouldn't you have soft serve? I've read a bunch of pregnancy books and this is the first time I heard that.

If the machines aren't cleaned properly and regularly, they can carry listeria.

Live on the edge... eat the soft serve. I've been avoiding deli meat all my pregnancy, but I allow myself to eat turkey from this super well-known deli in the tristate area. I figure it's always packed with people, so meat doesn't have a chance to sit around and it's freshly roasted at the place anyway. I don't want to make any stupid decisions, but we shouldn't have to live in a bubble either.
