Best time for 3D/4D ultrasound?

Just wondering after what week is the best for getting a 3D or 4D ultrasound done? I really would like to have one done. It would be cool to see what my baby looks like in other than the regular ultrasound image.

Any suggestions? Anyone already get one done?

The one near me says after 26wks is best, because the baby has more fat and doesn't look much like a skeleton after that point. 

A lot of people get them sooner though, so it's really up to you!

Alot of my friends went between 28-32 weeks... You can get good images at 26 weeks too... But dont wait to long cause I had a friend who waited until she was 35 weeks and the baby was too big at that point.  She got good images but if she went earlier she would have seen all of the babies face probably.  Or have a better chance atleast. 

I think I will go twice... Once around 26 weeks and once after 30 weeks so I can see how much my baby grows in that month would be neat.

The place I go recommends going in between the 28 and 34 weeks unless your having twins then they like you to come in between 22 and 27 weeks. We are going at 28 weeks like we did with DD. Hers turned out perfect so we are sticking with 28 weeks with this baby too.

my doctor doesnt offer it until 28 weeks

My doc told me when I get mine at 28 weeks she will look like an actual baby (as opposed to 20 weeks when she looks like an alien, lol).

I did mine with DS at 32 weeks, it was so neat. We got awesome pictures and a dvd too. I will be doing it again with this baby around then as well.

At my elective gender scan this past weekend my tech told me  that because my placenta is high to the right - the latest I should come in for good pictures for a 3D scan is 28 weeks - after that the baby tends to get cramped and like to shove their face in the placenta
