Another CD question

I was thinking of buying about 25 or 30 AIOs or pockets, but now I'm thinking about fitteds and covers.  Would I order the same number? How many covers? Also, how long are babies typically in the NB size (yes, I know every baby is different, but I'm looking for an average)  Thanks and sorry for so many questions!

Re: Another CD question

  • I didn't CD a NB but what I would do now is PFs and covers, with a few AIOs for ease of use out the house and grandparents and such. ?Not sure how long they are in that size.

  • A good option for you might be to rent Kissaluvs size 0 diapers from sunshinediapers.com  You get part of the rental fee back so you can buy one size or whatever you want after you are done with the size 0.  You would just need to buy some covers (maybe 4 newborn and 3 small).  I didn't CD a newborn.  I started when he was about 10 weeks old, but my intention was to start earlier.  I had bought prefolds and covers and only used them 2x because they just weren't working for us and I was too overwhelmed with bf'ing.  I just went straight into the one size BG and have been really happy with those.
  • I used pf's and covers. I wanted enough diapers to last us 2-3 days and I didn't want to spend a fortune. I got about 40 pf's and 4 nb covers - that was plenty. DD was in the nb covers for about a month, she still wears the same pf's w/ a small cover (we have 6 of those, you don't need that many but we just have them).
  • I second the rec above to rent from sunshine diapers. I'm on month 2 of my rental, and it's been so helpful to try the different types, as well as not have to worry about buying NB sized diapes.

That said, we're just now starting to use the small pockets that were included - Olivia is just about 10 pounds but doesn't seem to fit the one-size diapers yet.
