First day of GD diet - successful!

I had my appointment with the nutritionist this morning, and learned about my diet and how to work the glucose meter, which I'll have to use 4 times a day. All my readings were fine, only the post-breakfast one was at the high end, the rest were below 100. I'm feeling much more confident about being able to control it through diet than I did before! How are the rest of you GD ladies doing?

  • Good job!! I got my meter last wednesday and have been doing pretty good with my levels.  Every once in a while I get a reading that is a little over, getting into the swing of what foods will cause it to spike and which ones are safe.

  • still trying to figure out waht to eat to fill me up once I"m at my carb limit per meal and getting used to not being able to snack whenever I'm hungry, remembering to test blood sugar etc.  My numbers have all been fine the last two days, for all but one of the other days my fasting was a bit high but I've only been at this since Thursday.  Hope I can figure out some go to meals/snacks and get into a good rotation.

  • Cheese has been my go-to snack when I don't have any carbs allowed. I also got some sliced ham at the store, thought I might make some ham & cheese roll ups, or put on crackers for my 15 g of carbs snack.

  • For me, it's under 90 for the first reading (fasting), and 130 an hour after each meal. I've seen others talk about anywhere from 120-140.

  • I've been doing pretty good my #'s are 90 fasting and 120 after meals.  My only problem is the fasting I have been running right at 100 and can't figure out why I think I may be fasting to long sometimes 9 to 10 hrs I need me sleep!!  but I meet with the nutritionist again on thurs. for a review
