NN for Lorelei

Could Lila be a nn for Lorelei? DH came up with Lila today, and I think it's cute, but I love Lorelei and thought maybe, possibly we could get away with calling her Lila. Thoughts?

Re: NN for Lorelei

  • I think you can call her whatever you want, but if you love Lorelei why have a NN? Lila is a name that can stand on its own.

  • To me, Lorelei and Lila are 2 totally different names.  I don't think Lorelei needs a nn, but I am sue one would come up after LO is born.

  • I think it's a stretch for sure. I could possibly see Lola, but I don't think Lila for Lorelei makes any logical sense. They're both stand alone names and don't need nicknames.
  • Soundwise, I can understand calling a Lorelei "Lila."  But I wouldn't do so regularly, only as a pet name.

  • I love Lorelei.
  • "Lori" would be the most logical NN for Lorelei I think.

  • Personally I think it's less of a streth than "Rory" as a nn for Lorelai, but I like Lola better than Lila. Very pretty name.
