I'm going to visit my brother in San Diego this weekend and trying to figure out what to do with Angie while we are there. I'd like to take her to one of the big attractions. I've never been to either one. Any suggestions on what would be the better experience? We'd only be spending a day there. So... San Diego Zoo or Sea World?? why/why not...
edit: My 2 younger brothers will also be there.. ages 12 & 16. And my mom who has RA. So is one park easier to walk around than the other? (ie, Oakland zoo is in the hills and she would have a hard time doing that zoo)
Re: San Diego.... Sea World or Zoo??
What about the Wild Animal Park?

We did SD when N was just over a year, we did both the zoo and sea world, she was WAY more into sea world than the zoo. The Zoo is huge with a ton of walking, and the habitats are great but they are huge so often we couldn't see the animals.
Also the Zoo has a lot of hills, the map does a good job telling you how to avoid the hills but even avoiding the bigger ones there are a lot of smaller ones.
Overall I'd say do sea world.
Best is Wild Animal Park. But a good amount of walking and hills.
Zoo is awesome but big and a lot of walking
Sea world is also great probably less walking...like marine world walking or great america

I went to both and I was really dissapointed in Sea World. DD was about 4 years old and there wasnt much she can do. The rides were too big. I will recommend Lego Land which is about 40 minutes from San Diego. It was worth it!
Hands down the Zoo.
My cousin is a zookeeper there, so I have been countless times. I have also been to Sea World more times than I can count on my hands and feet (most of my family lives in SD so we go at least once a year for at least a week and end up going to both every time).
I like Sea World, but the Zoo is more worth the money, more to do, more to see.
HOWEVER.
With the RA issue, SW might be better ONLY if you like and are willing to go to shows. SW has way more shows. If you are not into the shows you will be on your feet just as much.
At the Zoo they have a bus and moving walkways and that sort of thing. They also have maps that show you the best way to get around minimizing the walk difficulty. You can also speak with the Zoo staff and they can drive you up to the more difficult places and allow you to do the down instead of up. So that is something to consider.
