Question about food

I know that it?s normal to get a little light headed and dizzy during pregnancy. Sometimes when I stand up I get light headed but only for a few seconds so it?s not too much to deal with.

But the other day I was standing up and then just suddenly felt really dizzy and had to sit down because I thought I was going to faint.

I?ve been eating healthier and drinking lots and lots of water but I was just wondering what specific foods are useful to eat to try and help with the light headed feeling

TIA

Re: Question about food

  • My OB advised me to eat plenty of protein and to reduce the carbs in my diet. I eat tons of 1% cottage cheese - full of calcium, low in carbs, and chocked full of protein to keep you going!

  • what types of food have got loads of protein?

sorry to sound really dumb but I?ve always just eaten whatever I felt like and never read labels :-p

  • Beans, some nuts, eggs, meats, protein bars.  These are great items to have to keep you from getting dizzy. I had the same problem early on in my pregnancy as well.

  • I was terribly dizzy pretty much all the time (although heat made it worse) until I started eating whole grain toast every morning with peanut butter and apricot jam. The protein in the whole grains and peanut butter helped, but, at least for me, the magic bullet was adding apricot jam (I'd been eating it with honey instead). It's chock full of folic acid, Vitamin A, and Potassium.

Anyway, that breakfast took it away almost immediately and no more dizzy spells for me.
