Hello! I've been on the boards for about 5 years but post mostly on my local boards. DS #1 is 3.5yo and DS #2 is 4mo.
Here's the question - #2 has been on Nutramigin since 2 months for colic and suspected dairy sensitivity (while bf). He has always done great with it but pedi suggested trying to switch to the Gentlease since his digestive system should be more mature now. So we tried it this weeknd. He took his bottles fine all day Saturday but yesterday and last night he started throwing up his entire bottle - not spit up but projectile full six ounces. No fever and was happy the whole time - I was not happy. For his overnight bottle I went back to the Nutramigin and he did fine. DH didn't feel well today and I'm not 100%, but we just moved to a new house last week so I just chalked it up to that but maybe there is a little bug floating around the new house? Anyone else have this type of reaction when changing formula? Did you change cold turkey or mix the two and slowly convert?
And, of course my dryer isn't working so I have a basket full of smelly formula clothes and blankets. Yuck!
Re: Intro & question about switching formula
I'm a lurker also but wanted to share my experience. Very long story short, I've had my little girl on Gentlease since she was 5 weeks old. She has had a horrible time with spit-up (tried rice and zantac), but considered a 'happy spitter'. We put her on Nutramigin last week and I have noticed a considerable difference. With Gentlease I also had what I call projectile vomit and spitting up almost constantly. While my situation has been sorta the opposite of yours, I do think that the Gentlease has been our problem.
Also, I have 3 other children. None of them tolerated anything except Nutramigin. I don't recall Gentlease being on the market, but Nutramigin has always been the best formula for us.
