diaper question for the new moms!

I am trying to decide what kind of diapers to go with, pampers or huggies.  Can anyone recommend which they like best and why.  Also, if there is another brand that you like better.  I was wondering about diaper creams too, I have some desitin and some balmex but I was wondering if the store brand ones work just as good....Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

Re: diaper question for the new moms!

  • I like the Pampers Swaddlers best.  They seem softer and fit DD better than Huggies.  We had blowouts with Huggies.

Sorry, I don't have any info on diaper cream, we haven't had to use any yet.

  • It's really personal preference--yours and baby's. We don't care for Huggies, but I know some moms who *only* use Huggies.

Pampers Baby Dry and Luvs are my favorites. We have Desitin but really have never used it.

As for wipes, I like Target's hypoallergenic sensitive ones. They are soft and stretchy; the only drawback is they come out kind of hooked together like tissues, and that can be annoying when you just need to grab one quickly.

  • We used Pampers and Huggies at first, but I have found that the Target diapers work just as well for almost 1/2 the price!  I think for a "cheap" diaper they have worked very well for us.  We usually use the Butt Paste or Desitin depending on the severity of DS's problem.

  • We use Seventh Generation mainly. They have no chlorine in them, which is safer for everyone. We use cloth wipes and a spray bottle of water. We use cloth diapers when we can, but that is really only at home at night.
  • We use Pampers Swaddlers and Butt Paste. I'd suggest getting a small container of the cream and seeing how it works for your baby- you may have to try a few makes.  GL!
  • I prefer the swaddlers over huggies and we use pampers sensitive wipes.  I use Butt Paste diaper cream.

  • I didn't know the Target brand was good, I will keep that in mind.  I do more shopping at Walmart than Target though, and I think their brand is Parents Choice or something like that, anyone try those?

Also this might be stupid, but does everyone use powder for every diaper change?

  • We use Pampers or Member's Mark (Sam's Club brand). As far as diaper cream, we use Original Desitin or A&D.

Hated Parent's Choice diapers. Hated them. But I love their baby wash...it smells great!

  • We love swaddlers & a&d ointment from fougerd.?
  • Powders are not recommended for use - babies can breathe it in and it can lead to respiratory problems/asthsma.

We use Pampers Swaddlers and either Boudreaux's Butt Paste or Method diaper cream.  We have tried Walmart diapers and they leak like crazy on our baby, plus we found them very stiff, thin and plasticky.  The Swaddlers are the most expensive, but for us they work the best.  If you are going to try different brands to find what works for you, buy the smallest package you can so you're not stuck with a bunch if they don't work out.

    .

Cornstarch powders are okay ; )

  • I love pampers, they seem so much softer. ?I also use the sensitive wipes by pampers... they're really stretchy & soft. ?Also pampers has a point system going on right now, every package you buy has a code & you go online and put in the codes, eventually you can pick out prizes & such.

And we use baby powder for every changing and that seems to keep his butt dry and soft. ?If it starts to look red I put desitin on him and usually at the next changing it's fine.
