Re: What do you think?

  • Well I don't really think you are going to like what you hear...but....

Declan is a boys name and even if you an a Y it is stall a boys name and not one i like.

Harper well it is better than Declyn

Kyan??? I dont even know what that is. Ryan with a K? pepper?

  • Declyn?  Are people doing that?
  • I think Declyn for a girl is terrible. It's extra terrible with the "Y". That doesn't make it more girly. Harper I like. As for Alise, is that an actual spelling, or a mixture of Alice and Elise? I don't like Kyan, either. I know it's not made up, but it sounds made up. It also makes me think of the color blue, and I don't think it ages well. I like Reid.
  • Declyn- A boy's name spelled wrong but not made any more girlie.

Alise is actually listed on behindthename.com as a variant of Alice but I'm not a fan.

Harper is the best of the girl names.

Kyan is not listed on behindthename.com and sounds completely made up.

Reid is ok. NMS but better than Kyan.

  • Ok...wow...thanks for your honesty!  I have always loved the name Declan for a boy, but it's not very popular around where I live.  I've heard many people mispronounce it ("Day-Klan") and I guess I was fearful of always having to correct others.  For some reason my husband thought it sounded more feminine especially with the "lyn" pronunciation at the end.  What do you think of Declan Reid for a boy?

As for Kyan...we've loved that name for years.  It's pronounced like "Ryan" but with a "K" and we got it from the talk show host Kyan Douglass.

Another girl's name we considered was Nora Mae, but the name Nora is becoming increasingly popular.  Ahhhh....this is so hard!!!!!!!!!

     Girls:

Declyn Alise - Sorry, Declyn sounds like a boy's name to me. :( Love Alise, but spelled Elise (I assume you are going for the pronunciation "uh-LEES" not Ay-lees - people will say Ay-lees if you begin it with A).

    OR

Harper Alise - I've never been a fan of this name as "to harp" over something is to nag or obsess. That said, lots of people love it, and I think it's an okay name.

    Boys:

Kyan Reid (Reid is a family name) - Based on the spelling here, I would pronounce this like the pepper "Cayenne". Not a fan. The pp who suggested a different spelling pronounced Key-en is much more appealing to me. Love Reid.

    Thank you!

Declan Reid for a boy is GREAT! Kyan, pronounced like Ryan ... yeah, no good.

Nora is a GREAT name. More than a million times better than Harper.

    Agree here!

This is all so much better. Declan is a good boy name. Declan Reid is great!

    Kyan...is not nice, sorry!

I do really love Nora Mae, I think that's pretty. True, it's becoming more popular, but it's no Emma/Bella/Ava.

Declan Reid and Nora Mae are both great! I've only met 1 Nora and she's about 5. I don't see it becoming hugely trendy.

  • My vote is easily Norah Mae & Declan Reid!

It's no contest in my book! I only know one Norah IRL and she's an adult.

Declyn ? Absolutely TERRIBLE. Declan is a boy name. Declyn is a mess (and still a boy name). Don't do that to your child.

    Alise ? Nice, spelled Elise.

Harper ? NMS, but a million times better than Declyn.

    ?????

Kyan ? Spelled correctly, Cian (Key-en), it is a GREAT name. Spelled Kyan ? awful.

Reid ? LOVE it! GREAT name.

    This 100%
