Forward facing question???

Where are the shoulder straps suppose to fall in the slots...above his shoulders or just at them?  I have it on the slot that is just at them.  The one above it seems too high above his shoulders.

Re: Forward facing question???

  • Above them, though when I moved DD's up to the next one when she reached the other one, she could easily slip out of the harness, but she is very slight.
  • Like his strap would probably be by his ears if I moved up.

  • The shoulder straps should fall below or right at the shoulder.  They should not be above the shoulder.

  • Right at the shoulder or slightly above.

Actually, that's true of rear facing, but not forward.

    This is from thecarseatlady.com:

:Shoulder straps: The shoulder straps must come from at or above the child's shoulders.

  • Sulla, you're right, I stand corrected.  I just checked our Britax and it does say for forward facing that it should be right at or above the shoulder.

I wasn't aware that there was a difference.  Guess I need to fix Gavyn's car seat.

  • sunshiny79 is thinking of rear facing.  DD was the same way with the slots by her ears.  I thought it was weird at first, but I read the manual 8 times and that is what you are suppose to do.  I had to really watch her to make sure she didn't slide the chest clip down and slip her arms out.
  • Thanks Joe, read my post above yours.
