Boy Names...need some 3rd party opinions

My DD's name is Avery Grace.  DH & I have top 10 names and wanted something a little different but not terribly different.

When pregnant with our DD, we liked Andrew /Drew for a boy.  However, now my sister is dating and will probably marry an Andrew.  I feel like it is kind of weird to use that name.

Since having our DD, we started tracing our family tree and we had decided on Addison for a girl since my Great Grandfather owned a house on Addison Drive in Ireland and that is where my Grandmother was born.  We like the name Brody for a boy bc DHs Great Grandfather was from an area called Brody in the Ukraine.  We found out we are having a boy.

WDYT of Andrew Michael and we would call him Drew?  Is it weird bc my sister's Andrew?

Or Brody but I have no idea about a middle name? Suggestions welcome!!!

  • I don't like Brody at all so my vote would be for Andrew Michael.  Your sister hasn't married the guy yet so I wouldn't worry about that.

  • I like the name Andrew Michael - and I don't think that it matters all that much that your sister might marry someone with that name. Andrew is a classic name.

Brody isn't my favorite but I think that Andrew Brody sounds ok, especially since there is some history with the name Brody.

  • I dated a Brody in high school. His middle name was Lee. The #1 tease about his name was grody Brody. I'm not a fan of the name (even if it weren't off the list automatically as an ex)

I like Andrew, but it might be a little strange with the potential BIL. Not a lot though and if that's what you want, I'd go for it regardless.

I like Michael too- actually a bit more than Andrew as a first name! Michael Brody or Michael Andrew are both nice.

  • Andrew Michael is my nephews name and i think it is really nice.

Brody is a big thumbs down

  • I love Andrew Michael! And I think if you're primarily going to call him Drew it won't be a big deal or too confusing even if he ends up with an uncle named Andrew (unless your sister's boyfriend also goes by Drew).

  • I actually really like both!  Andrew is one we were considering had this LO been a boy.  AND I like it with Michael.  My mom named my little brother Kevin when her sister was dating (and eventually married) a Kevin.  If you want to be sure, I would ask your sister how she feels about it.

I really like Brody too.  And I think Brody Michael sounds really good together.

I think you have two winners! :)

  • I like Andrew Michael.  I don't like Brody but I like how you honor your grandparents' hometowns.  Andrew Brody?  Michael Brody?
