Re: How long after induction did you have baby?

  • COMPLETELY VARIES...

    sorry, hit enter too early...

it's all dependent on the individuals body. some can go into full blown labor an hour later, some can end up with csections because they never progress

just because you get induced doesn't mean you go thru labor any faster...

  • When I was induced with my first, I went in the evening before and they used cytotec to ripen the cervix. My water broke on it's own around 3am, the started a small dose of piton at 6am and I had my daughter at 1pm. So the total time in the hospital before having the baby was about 19 hrs but only about 10 hours of actually being in labor.

I know, that's why I am curious to see the different responses...

16.5 hours.   They broke my water at 7PM and started pit.    I was fully dilated and ready to push at 10:45 AM the next day.   DS was born at 11:30 AM.

  • 17.5 hours.  It was with my 1st child.
  • I went in at 2pm and he was born at 4am. SO about 14 hours give or take.
  • 54 hours. Failed to progress. c-section.

(I should note I was only 38.5 weeks, and induced due to dangerously low amniotic fluid.)

  • 4 hours. Had cyoteck (sp?) at 8 am they broke my water at 11, started pushing at 12:20 and had her at 1:10. (also I didnt need to have pitocen) I was also 5 cm when I went in that day and had been walking around for a week at 3 cm. I was 41 w 3d.

  • With my 1st, induced twice (one morning and that same evening) and went into full labor the next morning at 4am. Had her at 12:45pm.

With my son, induced twice, had him 39 hours later with a c-section. REALLY varies!
