Claire or Lillian? My gut is that Lillian will appear more popular in terms of the SSA (or other ranking) list, but I feel like I hear Claire more because it is used as both a fn and mn.

I have seen a lot of people use Claire as a mn lately, not so much as a fn, though. I don't know anyone near me with a Lillian, but that is not the norm.
His three plus my one; we are all excited to welcome a little one!
Another thing to keep in mind is that the SSA list separates Lilly from Lily from Lillian. Even the namenerds list would separate Lilly/Lily from Lillian. Anyway, having said that, I know one baby Claire and MANY Lilly and Lillians. Both lovely names.
Neither is super popular, but I know several ppl who have new girls who are Lillian, so it might be increasing right now. Claire is on my MN list.

I hear Lily/Lillian often when I'm out doing errands. I never hear Claire and I don't know anyone named Claire. If it sounded good with our last name, it would be at the top of my list.

This!
I know a school-aged Claire, a highschool-aged Claire, a Clara, a Jenna Claire, and a couple who will likely use Claire if they have a girl.
I have yet to meet a Lillian IRL.
I do know a baby Clara.
My grandmother and great-grandmother were both Lillian, so I think it's having its 90 year resurgence.
