Showering with DC?

How do you do this?  I was contemplating it, but figure he would be a slippery little bugger...any suggestions?  Also, doesn't the water get in his/her eyes and ears?

Re: Showering with DC?

  • I've attempted it twice.  The first time worked really well, and the water didn't get in his eyes.  The second time he kept looking up and turning into the spray.  So, I haven't done it since.

  • thats something I never tried - why shower if you need your hands to hold the baby? You couldn't wash your hair... i think some people use the baby carriers?
  • We do it quite a bit with DD. We started pretty early on.

One of us showers with her, and the other person stay in the bathroom to help with soap. I have DH squirt the soap into my hand and I wash her that way. It is tricky at first.

We don't worry about the water. It doesn't bother her at all. In fact, I would rather she get used to it, so she does freak out when she does get water in her eyes.

  • I've been doing this with DS for a few months now and he loves the shower. Since he's becoming more and more mobile however it has become more difficult. Once he was sturdy enough to sit on his own we started to use one of those tub seats so he sits while I shower and then I quickly give him his shower. It's not the most ideal situation but after coming home from work and having very little time to get things done showering together has become helpful.

  • I love showering w/ dd!  I just put her in a towel on her bouncy seat near the shower, wash myself, thenget out and pick her up w/ a burp cloth around the midsection.. it's not that hard! With a pump style soap dispenser it's a breeze!

ps. shelikes the water spray if I let her get it a few times, she laughs now :)

  • I didn't start doing this until DD was standing on her own.  It's an easy way to get her clean now, but I'm clumsy and wouldn't have felt comfortable having to hold her while in the shower.
