Follow-up testing to high FSH levels?

I got a message from RE last night that my FSH tested high again (don't know number) and that they want to do further testing next cycle.

I can't get a hold of the nurse until tomorrow, but am wondering what further testing they might do. AMH? Clomid Challenge test? Something else entirely? If AMH, is that done CD3? TIA

Definitely get AMH done. It can be done any day of the cycle. Hugs:)

I would guess they would do the AMH.  Have you had an antral follicle count done?  I just found out my RE had done that on one of my baseline ultrasounds and sort of forgot to tell me the results...  The number they see for the count is also a good measure of remaining ovarian reserve (like the AMH).

Why wouldn't they just do the AMH test with everything else, especially after they already had one high FSH result sitting in front of them?! Grrrr... I have not had antral follicle count done (to my knowledge), so maybe they'll want that, too.

I figured this was coming, but that doesn't make it any less frustrating.

From what I've gathered, the AMH is a newer test, so it might not be part of their "routine" yet.  I was so surprised on Monday when they mentioned they had done my count, I forgot to ask what it was (she just said <5 on each side, which seems pretty darn low...); I'm planning to ask at my next visit.

I hear you on the frustrating part.  I keep wishing that this wasn't happening to me, but I'm trying to keep my chin up as best as I can and remind myself, it really does just take 1!!  (((Hugs))).

I think AMH is also more expensive as well so some places might not automatically run it. My place only runs the test once per week so I had to wait for my results even though everything else was done.  As for the antral follicle count, you may have had one and they didn't tell you (like Danish, that happened to me). I was expecting one and when I asked the tech she looked at me strangely like she didn't know what I was talking about. 2 months later when I asked the doc why they don't do them, she looked in my chart and said they did. I only had 2 on each side! I'm guessing the tech's look was because she didn't want to tell me how low it was.

That makes sense about AMH if it's a newer test, more expensive and handled differently by lab. Also, I wonder if they did do an AFC already. Something for me to ask the nurse tomorrow.

also, many insurance plans do not cover AMH testing ... so it is not considered routine testing since you may have to pay OOP.
