I am with you 100%. I am very grateful for everything that I get. People have been super generous too me and the thought is often priceless for me. However, I hate writing thank you cards. I have some waiting on me for almost two weeks. I am the worst. I can say that when I give a gift I would never expect a thank you card in return, unless I wasn't sure if the person received my gift.
are you mailing most of them or hand delivering them? it was a work shower and i could take most of them to my office and deliver them or else mail them to their house...
OH I write thank you cards because I know that is what is expected of me. I just wouldn't be upset if I didn't get one. I do have to admit my thank you cards are probably not considered timely. I always mean to send them out right away but I am a huge procrastinator with everything. I always hope no one gets offended.
I write them as soon as I get the gift. I haven't had my work shower yet and have to wait until its ok to take Olivia so there are a lot I dont have to write out yet
i have 8 to write out and i dont want to do them lol. i will of course. i have until friday to mail them (personal deadline). but i just do not want to even look at another thank you from the 50 ive already done!!!
Where I live most people DON'T send out thank you cards. I look at it this way...Do unto others. I would like to receive one if I had given someone a present. I try to do it as soon after I get the gift as possible and write down my thoughts that I had when I received the gift. "Wow we really needed that! or What a beautiful little dress!" And make the note as personal as possible. The longer you put it off the more difficult a task it becomes.
At my last shower I had a guest book and asked everyone to write in their mailing address so that I can just pop the card in the mail. Wouldn't that make your day to get a thank you note in the mail rather than just a bunch of bills or junk mail? As for coworkers I will just stick the thank you note in their box at work to save on postage.
As my dh said "Dear Abby would have a field day with that b!&@h. Somebody take the time to get you a gift and you can't even thank them?"

what do you think?
The work ones I put in their mailboxes at work and the ones from my friends/family shower I mailed.
I send them within a week. I hate having them sit around. For the shower, I preaddressed all of them since I knew who I would be sending them too. I am not looking forward to writing them for gifts post-baby, but c'est la vie. I always send thank you notes, but sometimes I hate receiving them for things like cooking a friend dinner after surgery, etc. I know I would send one in that situation too, but I always feel a little guilty because I feel like they thanked me in person and have enough going on.

I'm hand delivering the ones that are convenient for me to do that way. Saves a little on stamps and I think it's just a little nicer.
I am kinda dreading writing them all too but mostly because there are so many. However, it's very important to me to write them out and to be genuine in what I say. I always appreciate getting a thank you card from someone I got something for or went to an event for.
I write them, but I hate them. Anytime I send a gift, I write in the card "no thank you required". If that offends people, so be it. If they really want to send one, that's their choice. I know they appreciate the gift, they don't need to waste paper and postage to tell me that. I think that thank you's are like Valentines Day, and evil conspiracy by the card companies. I have old ladies that send thank you's for the thank you note, it's an evil circle!

I have to say, I am always excited to receive a thank you card from someone. It is such a thoughtful gesture and I love knowing that I picked out a nice gift for them! I cranked out over 50 about two weeks after my shower. It was tiring, but I was never happier than when I had finally finished. Plus, I picked out a super cute design so people kept calling, texting, coming up to me at work and telling me how adorable the card was. You'll feel really nice when they are all done and you can check them off your ever growing to do list!

Re: Thank you Cards
I don't like them either, but I have found if I do them right away it feels better.
