so we thought we had decided on our baby girl's name, Claire (classic, not a family name) w/ middle name Annette (my mom's middle name) but then my sister said, well if you say it out loud it sounds like Clarinet--the instrument!! oops! So I think we'll go with Sydney Annette instead. Don't want her to have such an easy opening to teasing!
Re: reason to say baby names out loud before choosing...
that almost made me spit out my pineapple...that's pretty funny
i had a friend who loved the name Cole, but her last name was Lind. Cole Lind...colon...yeah, the picked a different name
HAha! I could imaging being in a store and yelling at my daughter "Claire Annete you come here right now!" Good thinking to rethink that!
When my mom was pregnant with my sister, they knew she was going to be Lindsay but couldn't come up with a middle name. My dad and some of his friends, in a drunken stupor, were discussing this and one of the friends suggested using a family last name, like Doyle. My dad got all excited because we actually do have Doyles in the family, until you said the whole thing together. Lindsay Doyle....lindseed oil. Not good.
Glad you figured this one out! Sydney is an adorable name!
