August 2011 Moms

Probably overreacting, but have to ask.

So, this morning I was rushing to leave for work and going down the stairs pretty fast.  I was carrying my lunch bag which was packed, and fairly heavy.  It was swinging back and forth and hit my stomach pretty hard to the point that it didn't hurt, but was uncomfortable.  I know i'm probably overreacting and worried for no reason, but do you guys think I should be concerned?

  • I'm sure everything is fine, the baby is pretty protected in there! :)

  • Yes, you are indeed overreacting.  I am sure the baby didn't even feel it!  Did you know it is actually safe to sleep on your stomach for the entire 40 weeks of pregnancy?  Not that it is comfortable, but it is safe.  Liquid equalizes pressure and cannot be compressed - since baby is surrounded by liquid, you have to fall pretty seriously in order to do damage.  A bump from a lunchbox would not do damage.

  • I know its not good but my dog jumps on me from time to time.  Dr said it is fine.  :)

  • Blunt force trama is the only thing that can hurt your baby in there. I doubt your lunch is packing that kind of punch ;)

  • Your baby is just fine! Very protected in there! Have you felt how hard they push on you to make your baby move for ultrasounds?? I was very scared when they did. lol

     Best of luck to you!

  • Trust me I had an ultrasound today and the baby wouldn't move his/her hands so the tech was lightly hitting my stomach with the wand.  I'm like uh ok.  But as I watched the screen the baby didn't even move!  They are very protected.
