Please explain the pricing of knit longies. I see some on spots that are expensive and some that aren't. Is it the difference in yarn? Is there a yarn that is better for longies? I'm honestly just curious!

Re: Knitting/wool experts, a question
I really don't know.
I don't think there's a yarn that's "better" for longies, but I can see someone charging less for yarn they recycled from a sweater vs higher end yarn they bought online. And some grades of wool are going to be more expensive--I would think a 100% merino is going to cost more than a blend. If they handspun and/or hand-dyed it, they're going to build that cost into it too.

^ this. also some yarn is hand spun. so han dyed + hand spun = even more $$$. also, yes some yarn is more expensive because of the type. For example, sock or superwash are generally less expensive than gaia bulky or organic MMW. Also, because of the weight, some skeins have more lenth than others - for example a skein of single ply might have 260 yards in 3.5 oz where as a skein of bulky might only have 220 yards in 4 oz. Soooo - a pair of longies knit from hand dyed, hand spun bulky is going to be a lot more pricy than a solid colorway superwash DK.
