? for those who knit longies

I just picked up some wool, and I'm going to attempt them. 

Is the Tiny Birds pattern good?  Is there another I should try?  Is there a trick to them (knitting tight, or loose)?  Anything else I should know?

I know there were a few posts about this before, but I can't find them.  I wonder if they were pre-new format.

My fav pattern is the Wooly Wonder Perfection Pants pattern.  They come out so lovely.

I like the sheepy pants pattern. RE: loose or tight. You s/probably aim for guage, but if you can adjust for a slightly smaller size, i like mine a little tighter.
