when to start on room?

Right now our nursery is our office/"kitty land"... We are planning on clearing it out, moving DH's desk to our bedroom, and transitioning the kitties elsewhere (in our house, not getting rid of them) rather soon so that when we know the sex we can start.

We rarely go in the room (except DH to play WoW, since I use my laptop everywhere else) so its a bit messy, and we plan on steam cleaning.

 

But if your room is already or close enough to its blank slate state then I'd say you're good to wait till you know the sex Of course I am a first time momma, so I could be wrong!

we will start as soon as DH removes old carpet being stored in the room   It is neon green and will most likely need 3-4 coats of paint though

We're waiting until we have a house... haha. I'm moving to where my DH is (he's military and I'm finishing up school) in mid May, and didn't want to have any extra furniture or things like that to move before we even had a place to store them! We still don't even have all of our wedding gifts in one place... haha So we will likely be waiting until that time to really begin gearing up for baby. In the mean time, we're going to get a few small things just to tide ourselves over, such as onesies, some cloth diapers, things like that that don't take up too much space and won't be a hassle to move. 

Personally, I think whenever is right for you is the right time. I would wait for some of the more personalized things, color based, etc. until you know the sex, but if you wanted to go ahead and get some things, even a crib, I don't see why not! I must say, I do really enjoy browsing for all the baby stuff. Can't wait to buy!!

we're starting on it as soon as we find out the gender which is in 14 days!!!!!!!! We cant wait. So we have the same idea as you!!

We're team green so we have already started.... last weekend I washed the walls and filled in all the little holes, this weekend I primed and picked up paint! Next weekend will be the painting fest.... We already have the crib and bedding so we knew what colors we were getting... It's fun and I would rather be doing it now then when I'm huge and it's super hot in the summer... thats when I plan to be in the pool lol!

I think we're going to start preparing the room in the next couple of weeks.  It's currently our home office, so I'm starting to go through and organize/purge.  We also plan on pulling up the carpet and we may need to refinish the hardwoods underneath.  By the time we get all that done, get the furniture out of the room, remove everything from the walls and patch any holes, we should know the sex.  So we've actually got plenty to do before we get to choosing colors, etc.

In the next few weeks we are going to start shopping around for furniture to purchase in case it has to be ordered but we are not painting or picking out bedding until we find out the sex late April.  I am dying to know already.....

You can always purchase furniture and get the big stuff out of the way that won't matter if it's gender neutral or not.  Crib,dresser, rocker.  We are moving all of Riley's baby furniture over and getting her some "big girl furniture"so we won't be doing much for awhile yet....

We can't paint, but we need to clear the soon-to-be-nursery out. Right now it has FI's computer, warhammer stuff, and random boxes/Christmas decorations in it. I haven't quite figured out where all of that stuff is going to be moved to. Maybe the closet in our room?

As soon as we get it cleared out we'll figure out how big it is, and where we can fit the furniture.

We're turning the guest room across the hall from our room into the nursery. We're Team Green and won't bother setting up the room until July. Our entire house is painted in Benjamin Moore "White Blush" with yellow oak hardwood floors, and we won't be changing wall colour or flooring in the nursery.

We just need to find the furniture and move it in. I already have the lamp and side table and some artwork. I want a white Jenny Lind crib, a vintage wooden dresser, a Melissa and Doug giant giraffe, a print or 2 from Banquet Atelier, and probably a wing back chair with an ottoman for nursing.

I'm working on an afghan in this pattern. I've made a bunch of crocheted stuffed animals over the years, and will probably make a mobile over the summer. I'll probably wind up painting or reupholstering some furniture, but I think the summer months will be the perfect time for all that.

Probably after the Anatomy scan, which isn't until April 21st... although we have to order DS' big boy bed because I have no idea how long that will take to be delivered.

We have basically cleared everything out of the room. and have the crib. Other than that, we are waiting to find out the sex. Which will be by the end of April

We find out mid April.Cant wait to start the nursery!! We are gonna start ordering the furniture in May.

The room we're using is empty.  All I've done so far is paint the ceiling.  Trim and walls are next once the weather is nice enough to have windows open.

Just started researching cribs but unless i find a super deal I probably won't buy one for another month or more.  Hoping to find a dresser on craigslist and we're using a rocker from my mom so that is the only furniture, small room.

We aren't finding out the gender but even if we were I'd be going with more neutral colors.

I'm starting to get the itch to do things for this baby, but we're in the same boat.  We won't find out until early May what we're having so I keep telling myself to wait! I've picked out some things like stroller/carseat we like, but still have yet to actually buy anything.  We'll probably just wait on everything until the reveal!
