I don't know the breastfeeding rules yet, but you can use benzyol peroxide now.
Not everyone is ok with BP, but I spoke with my Dr, did a lot of research, and I AM using Proactive (part of the system anyway), which uses benzoyl peroxide. There are no actual studies done on it, which is the root of some peoples' concern. It's something you should look into & speak with your doctor about.
As per teeth whiteners, I want to say that it's a no-no during breast feeding too, but I can't remember for sure (I looked into it). Again, some quick google searches and a talk with your doctor should be added to your list.
According to my references, teeth whiteners are carbamide peroxide,
which is just a stabilized formulation of hydrogen peroxide. When
it touches tissue, it releases pure hydrogen peroxide almost immediately.
Its transfer to the plasma is minimal, if at all. According to Thomas
Hale, PhD (in Medications and Mothers' Milk), "it would
be all but impossible for any to reach breastmilk except under extreme
overdose." Even if absorbed, it would be metabolized in seconds."
I asked a friend who is a dental hygienist, and her H is in his last year of dental school (she's also pg for the 2nd time) and she said teeth whitening while pregnant AND bfeeding is a *huge* no-no, from what they learn in school.
