I think my hands are frost bitten. The skin is dry and hard and a bit white/red. Then when my hands are in water or I go outside it feels like I'm holding them on a hot burner or something.
Frostbite is more acute, but it could be Raynaud's - it's a vasospasm of the smal blue vessels and it happens in the fingers and toes. How long has it been happening for?
From what it sounds like, they may have the first stages of frostbite or just have some over exposure. I get these sometimes because I have had a case of minor frostbite in my hands and feet. Wear gloves when you go outside. Gloves even work if it is Raynaud's syndrome. Any exposure to extremes like cold outside, immediately into hot water to warm them up can only do damage. Try to keep you hands warm and dry and it should go away. When mine get to the worst they eventually peel off like a callous. Disgusting I know, but the gloves do help to hide and prevent it.
