Pre labor food

I'm being induced in a little over 2 weeks. My induction instructions say that if we choose to eat prior to coming to the hospital to make it a "light" meal vs a "heavy" one. My induction starts at 7pm so I plan on having a pretty light food day, but I'm having trouble thinking of really light foods.

Suggestions?

Re: Pre labor food

  • English muffin, yogurt, banana, toast, some crackers, soft pretzels.  Those things would fill me but not overly stuff me.

  • I would probably eat anything but greasy, fried, or spicy.

This would be my guess. And fruit.

These were the things that came to mind for me too.  I would think about the things that you would eat if you had an upset stomach.

This - I'd avoid fried food for sure, but there's lots of things you can eat.  And you will want to eat - you'll be hungry!!

This is what I was thinking too. Things that give you strength but won't make you sick.

  • I would avoid anything that will be ultra-gross coming back up.  I threw up while in labor with DD1 and salmon and sweet potato fries will never be the same! (Sorry, TMI!)  Good luck!

When I was in early labor I ate some toast, some cottage cheese and some peaches.  It turned out to be a good choice because it was nice and easy coming back up once I started puking my way through labor.
