Going to a concert...

I am planning on going to a country music concert this weekend with my best friend. It is a artist that she LOVES and been wanting to see for a long time. When he was coming to the area I told her I would get her tickets for her birthday (It is in April, timing was perfect)... Well... thankfully it isn't a standing concert because I know I wouldn't be able to go(Pelvis/hip alignment problem). However, I was reading that you shouldn't go to concerts pregnant is this true? Would you still go? I'll be 30 weeks...

Re: Going to a concert...

  • I don't see why you shouldn't go to a concert...I've never heard that.

  • Hmm, I am very interest to know this also. I planned on going to a concert a month before my due date. It is a weekend long concert we go to every year and we missed it last year because they moved the date to our wedding weekend. I was planning on trying to go if I felt up to it. It's free so I won't have to worry about losing any money.

  • I haven't heard anything about it. I actually purchased tickets to an all day concert (seated of course) on May 22nd and my due date is June 9th.... I am not sure if i'll feel like going but I sure hope so since I missed last year!!

  • I remember when my one friend who was pregnant at the time was going to go to a concert with us (talking like 3 years back) and she told me that her doctor told her no... Now, I am not sure if she just wanted to get out of going to the concert with us, or that it was a rock concert and we got pretty awesome seats. (Crowd and such)  Anyway... I started looking it up online and some people say it is bad for baby because the noise and others are concerned about the crowds. I think I'll be fine. It is a lowkey artist, so I am not worried about the crowd getting out of control or anything. I just wanted to see what other peoples opinions where on here...

  • Never heard that.  I have tickets to a Kenny Chesney concert in April and a Foo Fighters concert in May (both seated in ACed arenas).  I plan on fully enjoying myself (minus the beer, sigh).

  • I think it's fine. I went to a music festival, camping and all, 2 weeks before I had my first baby. It was one of the greatest weekends ever. A nice end to a chapter in my life.

    Who is the artist?

  • yes go!  i went to a nine inch nails concert when i was pregnant with dd.  i just made sure not to stand too close to the front so that i wouldn't get hurt.

  • I went to see Rascal Flatts in January and I asked my OB before I went and he told me it would be fine. I think you'll be alright! Have fun!

  • I went to a concert a few weeks ago and was fine. The only concern would be the standing and rough drunk crowds. If you can sit and enjoy the show go for it.

  • i dont think there is anything wrong with going out and enjoying yourself....

just a word of caution though...i went to a xd sound movie with DH (battle la) and LO was kicking like crazy through all the loud parts, i had to get up to pee twice. lol. she was fine the next day although i was a little sore. i think she just got excited with all the noise.

  • I would probably only go to a concert of a band I really loved at this point...not b/c I'm worried about the noise being bad for the baby (I doubt a few hours of loud music would cause irreversible damage), but b/c I know that the crowds and drunk people would just piss me off right now! Haha I'm getting crotchety. As long as you can sit, I say go for it.

  • My DH and I saw Depeche Mode when I was 7 months pregnant and I was not the only pregnant woman there.  I did also see Slightly Stoopid when I was 4 months and that probably wasn't the smartest idea.  Shall we say, lots of smoke?  We ended up leaving a bit early.
