Tuesday was my first day of maternity leave. Tuesday and yesterday, I ran around like a nut getting stuff done. Today is the first day that I haven't left the house. I've been bumping, reading, watching TV and being generally lazy. What has your schedule been like if you are off and without baby so far?
Re: if you're on maternity leave poll
i haven't done much!! but between all the appts and taking it easy it's actually gone pretty fast. after my shower i'll be busier putting stuff away
I try to plan at least one "project" every day, even if it's something like clean the kitchen, or put the bouncy seat together. Some days I get lots more done, other days that one thing is all I do.
For the rest of the day, I've been watching netflix, bumping, reading, a bit of scrapbooking, making lists and menu plans, etc. Trying to keep my feet up as much as possible b/c the swelling is getting bad!
I'm "technically" on leave from my professorship, but work keeps finding me. Today I'm blurbing one poet's book (when you read the manucript and write the blurb that goes on the back cover when it becomes a book), I'm editing another's manuscript, and helping a third with a marketing plan. Luckily, this is all being done from my couch in my pajamas, surrounded by sleeping pets.
Yesterday, I got asked to judge a state poetry contest, so those poems should be showing up in the mail soon. (Normally, this doesn't pay; it's just an "honor" to be the judge, but this one is paying me $300--major cash-age for a poet, seriously.)
In April, I'm the writer featured on a website, so I need to answer interview questions and get Jared to take pictures of me in my "writing space" and turn those in by March 31st.
And March 30th, I show up at noon for a one-hour meeting for the festival I'm co-chairing, and the festival is April 4th - 6th, so I'll be there all day, every day from 8 a.m. until the evening events those three days.
This is normally what breaks feel like, though... My "real life" is usually teaching college full-time on top of all of this.
Mac and cheese lover!
Tuesday was my first day of maternity leave, and I was actually somewhat productive. Then I had an OB apopintment in the afternoon, and I got put on bedrest. I've basically been sitting in my recliner watching tv/movies, bumping, and reading. It's pretty boring, and I'm bummed that I'm not going to be able to do any cleaning or errand running before the babies are born. I'm looking forward to my BPP tomorrow because I get to leave the apartment for a while.
My Blog - It's All Part of the Adventure
I've been off work for 2 months now, I thought for sure I would be bored out of my mind by this point but it hasn't really happened. I have a to do list that I try to tackle a few things a day along with keeping up on the housework.
I'm really glad I decided to leave work as early as I did for some "me time" before that baby comes!
This is going on my 3rd wk off and honestly, I'm starting to loose my mind. I try to get things done but I get so tired that I need to take a nap then when I get up I start another project. I'm getting nothing done. My H seems to think that I should start or complete some of my scrapbooking things. Since I have a years of things that I can't completed. But today I have decided to finish my TY cards from my shower. Tomorrow is another day. I look forward to going and get mani and pedi...I try to go like every other week. It's wonderful, but with all the swelling it is great. I keep telling my H that I want to go and spend the day the spa. He has yet to book anything...but he will be going out of state right after baby arrives so little does he know I'll be spending a day at the spa when he returned.
Other than that I really just get up and do a few things around the house, go out and do whatever I need to get done, watch TV and sleep. I'm supposed to be on bed rest. They told me to make sure that I'm doing somethings.

I can hardly wait for my maternity leave to start. I still have four weeks left until then! Although I only have to work three of those four weeks because I'm a teacher and one of them is spring break, so I have next week, spring break, then two weeks and done teaching at 39 weeks. Hopefully baby will hold out until then so I can have some time to just get the house ready, relax and breathe!
